SVIPLA is pleased to announce our November presentation "How to Attack Competitors Patents in the US and Europe." Malgorzata (Gosia) Kulczycka and Eric-Michael Dokter will discuss different options for invalidating a patent in the US and Europe, and provide suggestions for choosing the best mechanisms for a business situation in each jurisdiction. The presentation will cover options including post-grant review, opposition, inter parte review, ex parte reexamination, nullity suit, limitation procedure and reissue proceedings

About Our Speakers:

Malgorzata (Gosia) Kulczycka is a partner at Hickman Becker Bingham Ledesma. Ms. Kulczycka’s practice emphasizes client counseling and strategic patent prosecution with special expertise in computer networks, Internet-related technologies, computer software, artificial intelligence, telecommunications, computer graphics, and electronics. Her computer network experience and software experience include virtual machine technologies, communications servers and routers, load balancing, high availability network mechanisms, VPN, dynamic DNS-based security systems, real-time distributed data compliance brokers, cloud-based storage systems, data encryption mechanisms, data stream classifications, traffic multiplexing, link aggregation, VoIP, wireless communications, and data communications protocols.

Ms. Kulczycka’s clients include large corporations, mid-size companies, and startups. Ms. Kulczycka was previously a computer graphics project manager and a software design engineer at General Motors Corporation. She designed, developed, and programmed many components of computer networks and developed software applications for computer system integration, virtual reality, real time simulation, 3D projection, and computer graphics animation.

Eric-Michael Dokter is a partner at Viering, Jentschura & Partner. Mr. Dokter is especially experienced in the field of software-related inventions in prosecution as well as litigation. He focuses with his work on German, European and International patent applications as well as legal opinions, litigation, and opposition, nullity and technology invalidation proceedings. His technical focus includes information and communication including 3G, 4G, 5G, IEEE 802.11, semiconductor technologies, internet security, video and audio compression, AI, autonomous agents, E-Mobility, electronic circuits, databases, and the like. His clients mainly include various Fortune 500 companies as well as mid-sized companies and startups.

Mr. Dokter graduated from the Technical University in Munich, Germany, as an electrical engineer with expertise in communication and information technology. From 1995 to 1999, he worked for Siemens AG in Munich, Germany, as a patent engineer, responsible for the Information and Communication group of the Corporate Research of Siemens AG.

Mr. Dokter is registered as a German Patent Attorney, a European Patent Attorney, a European Trademark Attorney, and as a European Design Attorney. From 1999 until the end of 2014, he was a member of the Examination Committee for the European Qualifying Examination for European Patent Attorneys.
