PTAB Hiring Administrative Patent Judges

One of our members, Neil Smith, has recently been appointed to be an Administrative Patent Judge on the new Patent Trial & Appeal Board, for the new

Silicon Valleysatellite office of the PTO. He has asked that we provide notice to our members of this unique employment opportunity, with a very short fuse.

The Patent Trial & Appeal Board is now hiring a few more Administrative Patent Judges, which in addition to appeals with the PTO, under the new patent law, the AIA, will hold hearings and decide important patent validity, derivation, and related issues. Later, when the office is open they will hire a number of patent examiners.

The PTO has recently posted a notice about openings on the PTAB in a Silicon Valley/San Jose office, with a very short response time, ending this Sunday, January 27. If you, or someone you know, has strong experience in patent prosecution and/or validity issues, and is interested, they should check out the USA Jobs/PTO website, which can also be located via “Careers” on the PTO site.

Sorry for the late notice but SVIPLA was just made aware of this posting and wanted to get this notice out right away, so any qualified attorney who may be interested can apply.
