Crowne Plaza Cabana Hotel, Palo Alto, CA
Strategies and Insights
on Post-Grant Review Proceedings
6:00-7:00 p.m. - Registration/cocktails
7:00 p.m. - Dinner and program
PROGRAM:
Post-grant review proceedings are in full swing following their September 2012 implementation. Though new and uncertain, post-grant review, inter partes review, and the transitional program for review of covered business method patents are now integral parts of the discussion in patent portfolio and litigation strategies. Please join our panelists as they discuss their hands-on experiences with these pioneering procedures, including arguing at the first oral hearing before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
PANELISTS:
Aaron Capron, Finnegan Henderson, practices patent prosecution, litigation, and client counseling. With more than a decade of patent experience, he counsels clients of all sizes on prosecution, post-grant, portfolio management, and pre-litigation strategies. He has experience in all aspects of pre-trial litigation, including handling discovery requests, preparing contentions, drafting claim construction briefs and motions, creating technology tutorials, taking depositions, and working with experts.
Joe Palys, Finnegan Henderson, focuses his patent practice on litigation, post-issuance proceedings, prosecution, portfolio monetization and management, and client counseling. His technical experience is primarily in the areas of software, business methods, financial services, computer, network, and electro-mechanical technologies. He leans on his more than twenty years of patent experience to counsel small to very large clients on reexamination, post-grant review, and inter partes review proceedings implemented under the America Invents Act (AIA), and to provide infringement, validity, and product clearance opinions.
Naveen Modi, Finnegan Henderson, practices all aspects of patent related work, including litigation, client counseling, interferences, patent prosecution, and opinions. He has been involved in over 50 reexamination proceedings, including advising clients on concurrent litigation. His practice encompasses a range of technical areas, including medical devices, software, networking, business methods, semiconductor devices, and electronics.
