The special dinner rates include: hosted cocktails from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., dinner, wine with dinner, and a first-rate program all the way from London!

PROGRAM:
With business moving at an ever-increasing pace, and across diverse geographies, IP attorneys increasingly need to be aware of case law and IP law changes outside of their own jurisdiction.

Are you asking yourself:

  • What is this Unitary Patent I keep hearing about?
  • Who is going to use it?
What about Compulsory Licensing in India?
    What’s raising the bar?
  • UPC/UP and European issues
  • Unified Patent Court, Unitary Patent, Asian IP legal changes and trends

PANELISTS:

Michael Lin

was such a terrible lab chemist that he had to become a lawyer.  After 13+ years at Procter & Gamble handling pan-Asia patent law matters, Michael left P&G to join Marks & Clerk as the head of their Chem-BioSciences group in Hong Kong.  He handles patent preparation & prosecution, opinion work and client counseling and has an expertise in holistic IP strategies and Asian patent matters.  He has a B.A. Biochemistry from U.C Berkeley; and J.D. from Boston University.

Paul Chapman advises a number of Scottish universities with regards to their IP rights and handles a wide variety of patent work.  He has experience in European opposition procedures, in particular, in the areas of biotechnology, molecular biology and chemistry.   Paul is a regular speaker at bioscience conferences and has given a number of presentations to universities and other clients.  He obtained an honors degree in microbiology from the University of Glasgow, followed by a doctorate in molecular biology.

Will Cook is an IP lawyer with a focus on the litigation and licensing of patents, engineering designs and copyright.  He advises major corporations and technology companies in the TMT sector, in particular relating to patents covering electronics, semiconductors, telecoms, software and related fields, and also advises clients in the mechanical, chemical engineering and life sciences sectors.  Will handles litigation in the Patents Court (High Court), Patents County Court and Court of Appeal, and various arbitration procedures. His most recent Patents Court and Court of Appeal cases include the high-profile Gemstar v Virgin Media electronic program guide (EPG) litigation.  He regularly advises clients in multi-jurisdictional disputes with parallel proceedings in the USA and/or the key other European jurisdictions.
